So this is "extensive torture" American style?

The BBC reports that a Pakistani-born US resident is claiming that he has been "mentally tortured" in Guantanamo Bay, based on a transcript released by the Pentagon.

The detainee, Majid Khan, who lived in the U.S. in the late 1990s and attended high school in Maryland, is accused of planning to blow up gas stations in the US.

He reportedly hooked up with Al Qaeda when he returned to Pakistan after 9/11 and his family introduced him to one Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of 9/11, by his family.

So how was he tortured by the U.S.?

The BBC reports, based on a statement he had his personal representative read in front of a military tribunal:

Mr Khan complained about how US guards had taken away pictures of his daughter, given him new glasses with the wrong prescription, shaved his beard off, forcibly fed him when he went on hunger strike, and denied him the opportunity for recreation.

This led him to attempt to chew through his artery twice, Mr Khan said.

Later, Mr Khan produced a list of further examples of psychological torture, which included the provision of "cheap, branded, unscented soap", the prison newsletter, noisy fans and half-inflated balls in the recreation room that "hardly bounce".

Am I insensitive for not being able to grasp that this was "extensive torture" as Mr. Khan would contend?
