Is this Iraqi man really dreaming only of "sahel"?
See post below if you have no idea what I'm talking about. Anyway, I don't buy this theory: That "sahel" is all Iraqis are capable of hoping for.
Rather, this is just the latest argument Americans who want to pull out of Iraq are using so they can do so in good conscience - i.e., not blame themselves for the real hell that will surely ensue.
"Oh Iraqis, they just live for sahel. We couldn't do anything there. They're just too, what was that word again? That's right, dark."
This rationale won't work to ease my conscience. Will it ease yours?
