Dan Senor and Roman Martinez weigh in on Iraq

In Wall Steet Journal editorial, Dan Senor and Roman Martinez, former Baghdad-based foreign policy advisors, endorse the idea of expanding the U.S. military operation in Iraq and name who they think should head up the effort:

"Gen. Jack Keane, a former vice chief of the U.S. Army, has been an instrumental advocate for a substantial surge" and should head up Central Command, succeeding Gen. Abizaid.

They also recommend replacing Gen. Casey, the current military commander in Iraq, with Lt. Gen. David Petraeus.

They also suggest creating the new position of "counterinsurgency economic czar" to oversee a "New Deal" style economic program to help stabalize Iraq and suggest asking the new Democratic congressional leadership to name their choice in order to avoid wasting precious time on political wrangling.

Update: The New York Times reported that Bush appears to be replacing Casey with Petraeus.
